FORT RILEY SPOUSES CLUB HOSTS RECORD-BREAKING FALL FUNDRAISER

Mad for Plaid Lumberjack Bash Bashes Records

FORT RILEY, KANSAS, November 18, 2019 — The Fort Riley Spouses Club set new records for attendance and funds raised at its annual tree, wreath, and holiday décor auction fundraiser, Mad for Plaid Lumberjack Bash on Saturday, November 16, at Riley’s Community Center on Fort Riley.

The Fort Riley Spouses Club raised 43% more than last year’s fall fundraiser, with 47% more tickets sold. Over 170 attendees bid on 16 gourmet desserts and 31 silent auction items including a fire pit with skewers and s’mores ingredients, holiday wreaths and trees, and loads of other goods to make the best of winter in Kansas. Attendees enjoyed Plinko, opportunity drawings, and axe throwing with Axe to Grind’s indoor foam axes before bidding began in a live auction. 13 items were up for grabs, including a handmade quilt, a Christmas tree full of gift cards, and a humidor with twelve cigars. Items were donated by several Fort Riley units, coffee groups, and other organizations. Allen Dinkel, City Manager of Junction City, served as auctioneer for the third time in two years at a Fort Riley Spouses Club fundraiser.
