FORT RILEY SPOUSES CLUB SPRING FUNDRAISER MODIFICATION
In-Person Fundraiser Canceled in Favor of Online Auction
FORT RILEY, KANSAS, March 14, 2020 — In light of growing concerns related to COVID-19 (coronavirus), the Fort Riley Spouses Club (FRSC) has canceled the March 21, 2020 event, “Honky Tonk @ The RCC.” The FRSC will launch an online silent auction starting March 23, 2020 with links available to the public from its website and social media accounts.
In alignment with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations for social distancing to prevent spread of the novel coronavirus causing COVID-19, the FRSC will transform its annual spring fundraiser from an in-person event to an online auction. The dozens of items donated by sponsors will be available for silent auction bidding in an online system advertised on the FRSC website and social media platforms. Auctions will run in phases between March 23, 2020, and April 1, 2020. All tickets sold for the in-person event, “Honky Tonk @ The RCC,” will be refunded no later than March 18, 2020.
FRSC fundraisers build the Community Assistance Fund (CAF), funding dozens of grants for organizations that support area military families and scholarships for spouses and children of soldiers stationed at Fort Riley. The spring fundraiser is the FRSC’s largest, with hundreds of volunteer hours already committed and over one hundred items donated for auction. The online auction details will be posted on the FRSC website at www.fortrileyspousesclub.org and the FRSC Facebook page at www.facebook.com/fortrileyspousesclub.
The Fort Riley Spouses Club (FRSC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit social and charitable organization serving service members and their families in the Fort Riley area. Its membership is comprised of spouses of all ranks and backgrounds who wish to make a positive impact on their community. In addition to monthly member luncheons and numerous sub-club activities, the FRSC hosts fundraisers in November and March of each year. Grants and scholarships are distributed each May. The FRSC distributed $32,000 in May 2019 and aims to distribute $40,000 in May 2020.
